Valentine's NOTD: Sally Hansen Love Always

When deciding which of the limited edition Valentine's designs of the Sally Hansen strips to put on this week, I went with one of the ones that seemed the least versatile. A wine and pink and red vine-y design I can wear anytime, but something printed with hearts and words of love is pretty Valentine-y. Thus did Love Always come to be on my nails.

As I've come to expect, these strips behaved well (I think the only time I've really had trouble was with the navy stripes), but this specific design is not one of my favorites. First, its scale seems too big for my nails, especially at this length. Most of the lettering is so large that only a bit of each phrase shows on one nail, so my fingers say things like "mou" instead of "amour" and "ve" instead of "love". I really should have seen that coming, since the design looks similarly random on the side of the box.

The other reason this design is not my favorite is that it's one-way, and my compulsive side wouldn't let me have the words right side up one one hand and upside down on the other, so to be able to use one strip for two nails, as I like to when I can so I can save half for another mani, I had to cut my own curve in the second piece rather than just using the other end. I'm probably not explaining that clearly, but trust me, it was tedious to deal with.

In the end, I did get an eye-catching obviously Valentine's Day mani—even one of the guys I work with noticed it, and they're pretty much immune to girly stuff.
